Miriam Landis

Sullivan, Indiana

Miriam Landis, of Sullivan, passed away on January 1, 2016 at 4:10 pm with her loving family at her side. She was born on October 17, 1923 in Sullivan County to Arthur (Pud) and Rebecca (Bessie) Fulford. She taught for many years at Sullivan Elementary as a music teacher until her retirement. She was a former owner of MAB Paints, Dog & Suds, Sullivan Bakery, and Red Spoon Restaurant. Miriam was a member of the First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Order of the Hymera Eastern Stars #298. Out of all of her activities, she mostly enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports for the Farmersburg and North Central High School teams. She was their #1 fan. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bud Fulford, and one sister, Mildred McCracken.

Miriam is survived by one daughter, Beth (Tim) Drake of Farmersburg, one son, Robert (Marcie) Landis of Wanatah, a brother, Thomas Fulford of O'Fallon Illinois, grandchildren, Holly (Jesse) Wright, Ron (Kristin) Drake, Nicole (Jordan) Ediger, Maria Drake, Parker Drake, Kurt (Jenny) Hamilton, and several great grandchildren.

Services for Miriam will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev David Cox Officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00p.m. Burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
