Monte G. Riggs, 87, of Terre Haute, formerly of Sullivan, passed away on Saturday October 27, 2018 at Cobblestone Crossing Health Campus. He was born to Elmer and Maxine (Strain) Riggs on January 20, 1931. He was a retired business manager for the Federal Prison System. Monte was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was an air traffic controller and served in Korea. He was a member of the Sullivan Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 911, Sullivan American Legion Post 139, and Federal Prison Retirees Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Charles S Riggs, one brother Mark Riggs, an infant sister, Donna Kay Riggs and a grandson.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, two daughters, Pamela McLin and her husband Steve of Terre Haute, Tracy Riggs of Indianapolis, two granddaughters, one grandson, five great grandchildren, and five nieces, and one nephew.
Services are 11a.m. November 1, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastors Ron Riggs and Ben Wetherington officiating private services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that if friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Shelburn First Baptist Church food pantry. Military honors will be given by the Hymera, Shelburn and Sullivan American Legion's and the Sullivan VFW. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery.
