Joseph Ray Stanford, 68, of Merom and formerly of Lapel died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2004 in the Sullivan County Community Hospital . He was born August 16, 1936 in Kentucky to Paul Stanford and Nannie Joslin Stanford. He was retired from Brockway Glass at Lapel and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Stanford.

Survivors include two brothers Ivan Stanford of Lafayette and John Stanford of Anderson, one step brother Bud Crook of Noblesville, one sister Judy Frye of Merom and other relatives.

Services were at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2004 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev Eddie Hammond officiated. Burial was in the Merom Cemetery . Pallbearers were Daniel Abrams, Robert Williams, Brian Keel, Robert Frye and David Frye.
