Viola Violet Cox, 87, of Markleville and formerly of Sullivan County died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2005 in her daughter's residence. She was born October 16, 1918 in Sullivan to Roy Scott and Martha Pirtle Scott. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ingalls Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Levi Cox, her parents, one brother Burl Scott and one sister Margaret Golish.

Survivors include six sons Levi A Cox and his wife Katherine, Donald Cox and his wife Wilberta, Paul Cox, Berl T. Cox and his wife Debbi and Gary Cox and his wife Penny all of Anderson and Tim Cox and his wife Cindy of Sullivan; two daughters Patricia Jo Schuyler and her husband Harold and Wanda Vaughn all of Anderson, three brothers Charles W. Scott of Riverton, Roy Scott of Ohio and Frank Scott and his wife Joyce of Anderson, three sisters Juanita Gray and her husband Lowell of Palestine, IL, Katherine McCammon of Florida and Dorothyn Thomas of Pearland, TX, thirty one grandchildren, fifty two great grandchildren, eleven great, great, grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2003 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jack Stout officiated. Burial was in the Center Ridge Cemetery . Pallbearers were Johnny Cox, Lee Schuyler, Mike Cox, Josh Cox, Tom Cox, J.R. Cox, Gary Cox and Jimmy Jennings
