John Riley Dodd, 67, of Sullivan died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2005 at the Sullivan Health and Living Center. He was born April 12, 1938 in Sullivan to Vead Dodd and Esther Arnold Dodd. He was the owner and operator of the Vead Dodd Sawmill and a member of the First Christian Church. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Sullivan Elks Club and a member and past president of the Sullivan Jaycees. He was a member of the Shelburn Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Zorah Shrine Temple and served on the Board of Directors at the Sullivan County REMC. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of forty seven years Marilyn McElwain Dodd of Sullivan, two daughters Darda Drew and her husband J.R. and Debra Harrison and her husband Tom all of Sullivan, one brother David Dodd and his wife Alice of Sullivan, one sister Billie Dodd of Dade City, FL, four grandchildren Tommy Harrison, Wes Drew, Dani Harrison and Ryan Drew and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dale Wise officiated. Burial was in the Center Ridge Cemetery . Organist was Mary Huff and pallbearers were Tommy Harrison, Wes Drew, Ryan Drew, David Dodd, Jim McElwain and Adrain Dodd.
