Eddie D. Mahurin, 64, of Sullivan died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, February 07, 2005 in his residence of natural causes. He was born September 9, 1940 in Hymera to Claude Mahurin and Mary Bose Mahurin. He was a retired Correctional Officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Terre Haute and a member of the Farmersburg Church of Christ. He was US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a 1958 graduate of Blackhawk High School. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Terri Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of thirty nine years Joy Ann Hancock Mahurin whom he married May 1, 1965, two sons Dale Mahurin and his wife Julie of Terre Haute and Jerry Mahurin and his wife Delta of Sullivan, two daughters Terri Mahurin and Mary Jo Miller and her husband Gene all of Sullivan, one brother Claude "J.R." Mahurin of Terre Haute, two sisters Charlotte Van Gilder of Terre Haute and Donna Treadway of Brazil, eleven grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Michael Nave officiated. Burial was in the Little Flock Cemetery near Shelburn. Pallbearers were Chris Mahurin, Jerry Mahurin, Dale Mahurin, David Mahurin, Brian Hussong, Jimmy Hancock, Gene Miller and Scott Hancock.
