Catherine Elizabeth Thompson, 86, of Hymera died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2005 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital . She was born January 12, 1919 in Coal Bluff to Paul Carpenter and Charlotte Langmen Carpenter. The 1937 graduate of Hymera High School was a homemeker and attended the Harvest Temple Church of God. Her husband of fifty nine years John Ed Thompson whom she married April 9, 1938 died August 29, 1997, her parents and four brothers Ralph Carpenter, Harry Carpenter, James Carpenter and William Carpenter also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons Roger Thompson and his wife Judy and Ed Thompson and his wife Terri all of Hymera and Garry Thompson and his wife Bev of Jasonville, one daughter Judy K. Thompson of Terre Haute, one adopted daughter Oralee Pierce of Terre Haute, two sisters Helen Boling of Hymera and Deloris Edwards of Sullivan, five grandchildren Debra Fry, CharLene Mowery, Leslie Thompson, John Thompson and Matt Thompson, two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Mike Roth officiated. Burial was in the K of P Cemetery near Hymera. Pallbearers were Matt Thompson, John Thompson, Danny Fry, Clint Fry, Bob Mowery and Justin Mowery.
