Opal Rehmel, 88, of Shelburn died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, December 08, 2005 in the Sullivan Health and Living Center . She was born October 1, 1917 in Dugger to Eugene Brewer and Zona Bedwell Brewer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coalmont Church of God. She was preceded in death by he parents, two sons Clarence Rehmel and Leo Rehmel, two brothers Lawrence Brewer and Harold Brewer and one sister Helen Harold.

Survivors include her husband of fifty seven years Rev. J.F. Rehmel of Shelburn whom she married September 26, 1948, one son Joe Rehmel and his wife Pauline of Shelburn, three daughters Norma Chapman and her husband Albert of Jasonville, Patricia Johnson of Dalton, GA and Mercedes Rehmel of Shelburn, seventeen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Russell Black, Rev. Ronald Ragan and Rev. Ronald Martin officiated. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery at Farmersburg. Pallbearers were David Chapman, Lance Chapman, Jay Chapman, Joe Rehmel, Jr., B.K. Cox and Eric Jones. Music was provided by Carolyn Pierce and Darlene Carrithers.
