Virginia Irene French, 81, of Shelburn died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005 in her residence. She was born December 6, 1923 in Sullivan to Orville Swaby and Laura Ladson Swaby. She worked as a nanny for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Bill" French, one son James French, her parents and one grandchild.

Survivors include two sons Tom French of Shelburn and Bill French of Bloomington, one daughter Lois Ann McGlothlin of Bedford, her special friend Jim Reed of Shelburn, two brothers Bill Swaby of Daleville and Bob Swaby of LaPorte, four sisters Carolyn Racer of Dugger, Lois Wehmeier of LaPorte, Doris Enochs of Kingsford Heights and Judy Kenworthy of Clayton, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,August 3, 2005 in the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Timothy Fleace officiated. Burial was in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom French, Bill French, Travis French and Jerry Kenworthy.
