Freda Elizabeth Held, 85, of Vincennes and formerly of Carlisle died at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2005 in her residence. The 1938 graduate of Freelandville High School was born August 14, 1920 in Bruceville to Leo Hamke and Margaret Phillippi Hamke. She was a homemaker and a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church . She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Held whom she married February 14, 1939 , her parents, two brothers Bob Hamke and George Hamke and one sister Hazel Singleton Bubenzer.
Survivors include one son Rodney Held and his wife Tamera of Tipp City, OH, two daughters Nancy Malone and her husband Ermal of Bicknell and Margaret Knotts and her husband Tom of Clinton, two sisters Helen Strahley of Shoals and Mildred Plummer of Sandborn, eight grandchildren Michelle Mackey, Melinda Kelley, Melissa Small, Todd Royer, Scott Royer, Ryan Knotts, Christopher Held and Nicholas Held, eleven great grandchildren and other relatives.
Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2005 at the Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville. Rev. George Varnes officiated. Pallbearers were Paul Singleton, Wayne Singleton, Randy Singleton, Kurt Douthitt, Bud Strahley, Todd Royer, Scott Royer and Nick Held. Music was provided by Edith Rinsch.
