Lois P. Gill, 84, of Madison , WI and formerly of Shelburn died Sunday, November 20, 2005 in Oakwood Village Nursing Home at Madison . She was born March 13, 1921 in Hymera to Herbert Stwalley and Matilda "Tillie" Barley Stwalley. The homemaker was a 1939 graduate of Hymera High School and worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and helped at the Shelburn Nutrition Center for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece Sharon Miller.

In 1948 after their marriage she and her husband built a home outside Shelburn and lived there for fifty years and in the early 1970s Lois and Joe realized their dreams and became "snowbirds' traveling to their winter vacation home in Melbourne , FL for many years. In 2004 they left their life-long community in Sullivan County and moved to All Saints Retirement Center in Madison to live near their daughter.

Lois enjoyed playing euchre, baking pies, growing roses and going to dances wit Joe. She loved to participate in Farmersburg and Shelburn senior center activities. Together they made many friends and she will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of fifty seven years Joseph E. "Joe" Gill of Madison whom she married May 1, 1948, one daughter Teresa Gill Bacchi and her husband Russell of Cross Plains, WI, one brother H.J. "Jim" Stwalley of Melbourne, FL, one sister Jean S. McCulley of Fort Walton Beach, FL, one step grandchild Alicia Bacchi of Indianapolis, one step great grandson Jack Bacchi, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gerald Badger and Rev. Eugene Schmitt officiated. Burial was in the K of P Cemetery near Hymera.
