Norma Jean Organ, 79, of Carlisle died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006 in her residence. The 1944 graduate of Carlisle High School was born August 24, 1926 in Carlisle to Clarence "Slim" Houpt and Nellie Ham Houpt. She was the office manager at the Sullivan County Park and Lake for almost thirty years and had previously worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Root's Department Store and Johnson's Grain both of Sullivan. She was also involved in charitable work to benefit the Carlisle High School music education programs and the Carlisle United Methodist Church of which she was a member. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Organ whom she married July 1, 1948 and her parents.

Survivors include two sons Michael Organ of Los Angeles , CA , James Bryan Organ of Rosedale , one daughter Karla Sue Mahoney of Springfield , VA , six grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Marilyn Cougar officiated. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Carlisle . Pallbearers were James Bryan Organ, Bryan Kinnett, Ron Stanley, Delbert Ammerman, Charley Wolfe and Jerry Grimes. Music was provided by Gary Ready and Shelia Lawrence.
