Norma Lee Smith, 84, of Sullivan died at 8:04 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital . The 1939 graduate of Wiley High School was born February 7, 1922 in Terre Haute to Harry Hassinger and Flora Cruse Hassinger. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau, the Alpha Delphian Club and a former treasurer of the Sullivan County Mental Health Association. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Smith, her parents, one brother Richard Hassinger, two sisters Jane Whitmer and Bonnie Doyel.

Survivors include one son Jim Smith and his wife Susan of Sullivan, three daughters Marilyn Bruce and her husband Carl of Macon, GA, Sally Green of Terre Haute and Susan Ridge and her husband Tom of New Lebanon, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and other relatives.

Private graveside were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Center Ridge Cemetery . Rev. Paul McGlasson officiated. Pallbearers were Tom Bruce, David Ridge , Scott Ridge , Ben Smith, Paul Lantham, Will Lantham, Randy Jenkins and Matt Mischler. A memorial service for family and friends will be at 7:00 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church.
