Thomas P. "Tom" Lippeatt, 80, of Terre Haute and formerly of Sullivan and Dugger died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The 1943 graduate of Washington Catholic High School was born June 16, 1925 in Dugger to Thomas H. Lippeatt and Margaret A. Denham Lippeatt. He was retired from the Dugger Domestic Coal Co. and the Crane Naval Weapons Depot. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the First Christian Church, the Sullivan American Legion, the UMWA, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Disabled American Veterans Association. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years Betty Keene Lippeatt of Terre Haute whom he married April 10, 1948, one son Steve Lippeatt and his wife Elaine of Sullivan, one daughter Beth Ann Butts and her husband Fred, Jr. of Terre Haute, four grandchildren Sarah Hansel, Jordan Butts, Jennifer Butts and Chad Butts, three great grandchildren Logan Hansel, Jackson Hansel and Ainsley Hansel and other relatives.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Dale Wise officiated. Burial with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan V.F.W. was in the Dugger Cemetery at Dugger. Pallbearers were Fred Butts, Jr. , Jordan Butts, Chad Butts, David Cox, Delbert Drake and Tom Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Logan Hansel and Jackson Hansel.
