Edward F. "Ed" Ellerman, Jr., 91, of Carlisle died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2006 in Miller's Merry Manor. He was born February 15, 1915 in Vincennes to Edward Ellerman, Sr. and Elizabeth Viehe Ellerman. He was a retired farmer and a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Sullivan American Legion and the Sullivan County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Alvin Ellerman and Lawrence Ellerman, three sisters Mary Pierce, Louise Ellerman and Ester Ellerman and one grandson Jerry Wayne Roberts, II.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years Nellie Marie Kennedy Ellerman of Carlisle whom he married July 24, 1936, one son Edward "Pete" Ellerman of Carlisle, two daughters Lillie Mae Roberts and her husband Jerry of Carlisle and Mary Traylor and her husband Dan of Otwell, one half brother August Ellerman of Vincennes, one half sister Stella Loudermilk of Indianapolis, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren and other relatives. Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle . Father Frank Renner officiated. The Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan VFW conducted military rites. Pallbearers were Doug Roberts, Scott Ellerman, carter Phegley, Bill Phegley, Mike Neer and Dale Knotts.
