Bernard Preston Pierson, 85, of Sullivan died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006 in his residence. He was born July 11, 1921 in Sullivan to Bernard Pierson and Lillis Followell Pierson. He was a retired shipping clerk for General Motors and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Sullivan VFW, the Sullivan American Legion, the Golden Ark Lodge F & AM, the Scottish Rite and the Zorah Shrine Temple . He was preceded in death by his first wife Marie Glasscock Pierson, his parents, three brothers Carl Pierson, Max Pierson and Jackie Pierson and five sisters Eula Pierson, Beulah Pierson, Mary Larson, Elnora Cochran and Charlene Nickoli.

Survivors include his wife Martha Jordan Pierson of Michigan City, three daughters Brenda Essenburg of Port Charlotte, FL, Cathy Richardson and her husband Roger of Sullivan and Thelma Squires of Ypsilanti, MI, one son Jerry Collins and his wife Wanda of Sullivan, four brothers Bill Pierson and Rex Pierson of Westland, MI, Earl Pierson of Canton, MI and Wallace Pierson of Port St. Lucy, FL, three sisters Elizabeth Hauger of Shelburn, Ruth Webb of Wayne, MI and Norma St. Holmes of Canton, MI, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Eddie Hayes officiated. Burial with military rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan VFW was in the Center Ridge Cemetery . Pallbearers were Wallace Pierson, Rex Pierson, Jr., Preston Richardson, Ronald Pierson, Ty Buchanan and Kyle Buchanan.
