Harold Roland Runyan, 80, of Farmersburg died at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2006 in his residence. The 1944 graduate of Hymera High School was born April 3, 1926 in Hymera to Roland Runyan and Emmett Crist Runyan. He was a retired maintenance foreman for Pfizer's and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a fifty year member of the VFW, a fifty year member of the Hymera Masonic Lodge, a member of the Hymera American Legion, the Sullivan Elks Club and the Rinky-Dinks Golf Team. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John Runyan.

Survivors include his wife Sue Drake Runyan of Farmersburg, one sister Naomi Greggs of Farmersburg, one step son Eric Drake of Farmersburg, one step daughter Judy Eckiss of San Diago, three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, two nieces Laurice Newlin and her husband Tom of Terre Haute and Jayne Begerman and her husband Charley of Prairie Creek, one nephew Richard Runyan and his wife Marlene of Phoenix, AZ and other relatives.

Services were at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Ron Riggs officiated. Private burial with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan VFW were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2006 at Westlawn Cemetery near Farmersburg.
