Hazel Plew Smith York, 86, of Sullivan died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor. She was born April 28, 1920 in Sullivan to Warrick Plew and Iva Black Plew. She was a former employee of the Fairwright Company and Gossards. She was a member of the Souls Harbor Church . She was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence "Skinny" Smith and her second husband Orville "Gene" York, one son James Harvey Smith, her parents, seven brothers Minor Plew, Ralph Plew, Lex Plew, Harold Plew, Joe Plew, Gilbert Plew and Harry Plew, three sisters Arilla Harmon, Nellie Maxwell and Ruby Reed and one granddaughter.

Survivors include two daughters Myrna Smith Raney of Valdosta, GA and Sandy Smith Cox and her husband Nolan of Carlisle, one sister Dillie Boles of Hutsonville , IL , fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Darren Thrasher officiated. Burial was in the New Robinson Cemetery at Robinson , IL . Pallbearers were Todd Cox, Michael Cox, Tim Smith, Ryan Smith, Eric Smith and Bob Lietha.
