George Ernest Southwood, 84, of Shelburn died at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born August 20, 1923 in Sullivan to Joseph Southwood and Emily Hill Southwood. He was a laborer and a truck driver for the Bob Green Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty six years Nettie Zellars Southwood, his parents and three brothers Paul Southwood, James Southwood and Noah Southwood, one sister Veneda Tarrah and two grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons Malcolm "Skip" Southwood and his wife Peggy of Farmersburg, Patrick W. Southwood and his wife Lynn of Sullivan and Dean Southwood of Shelburn, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Harley Archer officiated. Burial was in the Little Flock Cemetery at Shelburn. Pallbearers were Pat Southwood, Ronnie Southwood, Dean Southwood, Joe Southwood, Kale Ficklin and Blake Shorter.
