Mildred Ladson Sluder, 87, of Sullivan died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor. The 1938 graduate of Linton High School was born March 24, 1920 in Sullivan to Albert Ladson and Ruby Bedell Ladson. She was a 1941 graduate of Saint Anthony's School of Nursing and a retired registered nurse at the former Mary Sherman Hospital where she worked for thirty years. She was a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corp during WWII and served in Italy and Northern Africa. She was a member of the North State Street Church of Christ, the Friday Afternoon Club, the Sullivan County RN Club, the Indiana State Nursing Association and the Red Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty one years William "Bill" Sluder whom she married October 25, 1950 also her parents, three brothers Eugene Ladson, M.A. Ladson and Garland Ladson and one sister Clara Edwards preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter Connie Stockberger and her husband Dick of Terre Haute, two grandchildren Kelly Hammond and her husband Chris and Kathy Anderson and her husband John, Jr., three great grandchild Connor Hammond, Megan Hammond and Ellie Anderson and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Bro. Allan Griggs officiating. Burial will be in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday.
