Donald Joe "Red" McClure, of Avon and formerly of Sullivan and Terre Haute died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at his residence. The 1951 graduate of Sullivan High School was born January 14, 1933 in Sullivan to Clem McClure and Delores Risinger McClure. He was a retired self employed business man, a member of the Terre Haute Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, the Zorah Shrine Temple and the Terre Haute Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Ann Wright McClure, one son Jeffrey Joe McClure and his wife Anna Marie of Terre Haute, one daughter Jamie Jo Garry and her husband Danny of Terre Haute, one brother Richard McClure of Vincennes, three sisters Shirley Johnson of Fairbanks, Sharon Swayze of Avon and Judy Gilbert of Terre Haute, seven grandchildren, Amy Jo VanVactor, Melissa Jo Walden, Jill Shield, Joshua Garry, Joe McClure, Lindsey Garry and Ann McClure, six great grandchildren Aaron Walden, Andrew Shield, Aubrey Shield, Eli Garry, Abigail Shield and Ali VanVactor and other relatives. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan, IN. Rev. David Cox officiated. Burial was in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Abe Nasser, Bill Wright, Joe McClure, Josh Garry, Steve Fosdick and Maury Paynter.
