Charles L. "Charley" Arnett, 87, of Sullivan died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital . The U.S. Army veteran of WWII was born May 14, 1919 in Carlisle to Bert Arnett and Nellie Risher Arnett. He was a farmer and landscaper. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Sullivan American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers James Arnett, Elmer Arnett, Orval Arnett, Earl Arnett, Bert Arnett, Jr., Lawrence Arnett and Bob Arnett, two sisters Alice Webster and Mary Thrasher.
Survivors include his wife of sixty four years Alice Coralie Owens Arnett of Sullivan whom he married May 30, 1942, one daughter Joanne Quast and her husband Ray of Sullivan, one brother John Arnett of Yucaipa, CA, two sisters Hazel Price of Terre Haute and Gladys McInnis of Brandon, FL, one grandson Shawn Quast, one great granddaughter Sage Quast and other relatives.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2006 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Tim Fleece officiated. Burial with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan VFW was in the Center Ridge Cemetery . Pallbearers were members of the American Legion and the VFW.
