Paul Dale Zaayer, 76, of Sullivan died at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, January 06, 2007 in Miller's Merry Manor. The 1949 graduate of Union High School was born December 10, 1930 in Sullivan to Herbert Zaayer and Elsie Faye Williams Zaayer. He was a retired superintendent for the Ohio Valley Gas Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church ; the Gideon's International and served as a Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Conference. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of fifty six years Louella ‘Lou" Tarrh Zaayer whom he married November 23, 1950, one son Larry Zaayer and his wife Mary Ann of Sullivan, one daughter Connie Hays and her husband Eddie of Sullivan, two brothers James "Jim" Zaayer and his wife Carolyn of Westville, IL and Billy Zaayer and his wife Judy of Carlisle, five grandchildren Jennifer Hays Gibbs and her husband Brandon, Kevin Hays and his wife Jessica, Melissa Zaayer, Clinton Zaayer and Daniel Zaayer, one great grandson Zackary Gibbs and other relatives.

Services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dan Sinkhorn officiated. Burial was in the Center Ridge Cemetery . Pallbearers were Clinton Zaayer, Rick Zaayer, Rex McKinley, Denny Holycross, Paul Boone and Rick Engle.
