Lloyd Edwin Shear, 81, of Sullivan died at 7:26 a.m. Friday, April 04, 2008 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The 1944 graduate of Rosedale High School was born August 3, 1926 in Worthington to Oscar Shear and Mary Payne Shear. He was a retired service station attendant and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #139. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene Winn Shear, one son Monty Shear and one grandson Darrell Morgan.
Survivors include one son Gary Shear of Terre Haute, one daughter Faith Lindsey and her husband James of Sullivan, two brothers Merle Shear of Bloomington and Rev. Paul Dean Shear of Spencer, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 in the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Paul Dean Shear officiated. Burial with military rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars was in the Center Ridge Cemetery.
