John P. "Johnny" Masnick, 70, of Sullivan and formerly of Lansing, IL died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 02, 2008 in Miller's Merry Manor. The 1955 graduate of Thornton Fractional North High School was born November 10, 1937 in Calumet City, IL to John Masnick and Margaret Weining Masnick. He was a retired Supervisor for the Buddig Meat Packing Co. He was a US Marine veteran and attended the Sullivan First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Michael Masnick and one sister Jo Ann Eggebrecht.
Survivors include his wife of forty eight years Elizabeth Anne Layton Masnick of Sullivan whom he married April 24, 1959, three daughters Anne Glass and her husband Dale of Glen Road, TX, Patricia Spring of Hammond and Sheri Curtin of Lasing, IL, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild and other relatives.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dan Sinkhorn officiating. Burial with military graveside services by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Sullivan. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Friday.
