Wayne D. Vonderlow, 72, of Merom passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital. The U.S. Air Force Veteran was born October 6, 1936 in Winneconie, WI to William Vonderlow and Luella Wendeler Vonderlow. He received his BA degree in Chemistry and was a Vice-President of the Purex Corporation and held several executive positions with other companies. He was commissioned by National Geographic in 1967 to purify a Mayan Well in the Yucatan Jungle, where he found relics dating back to the time of Christ. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, artist and photographer. After a series of strokes, Wayne and his wife moved to Merom to retire and work on his hobbies and spend time at the coffee shop with their many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Cummings Vonderlow, his parents, two sisters Beverly and Janette and one brother Lyle.
Survivors include a nephew, five nieces and a brother in law.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Merom United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Gettinger officiating. Holmes Memorial
