Dorothy Lambeth Roberts, 92, of Sullivan died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the Sullivan County Community Hospital. The 1935 graduate of New Lebanon High School was born January 17, 1917 in Carlisle to Harry Lambeth and Viola Robbins Lambeth. She was a homemaker and formerly worked in the melon and tomato fields hoeing plants and picking produce. She was a member of the Rose Chapel Methodist Church and later joined the New Beginnings Worship Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Roberts, her parents, two grandsons Jerry Wayne Roberts and Jeffrey J. Pitts, one brother Loren Lambeth and three sisters Lois Glenn, Esther Lambeth and Ruby Boone Ready.
Survivors include three sons Jerry (Lillie) Roberts, Carlisle, Bill (Carol) Roberts, New Lebanon and Bob (Cathy) Roberts, Sullivan, three daughters Wilma (Kenneth) McKain, Shelburn, Virginia (Pete) Pitts, Terre Haute and Judy (Bill Sam) Phegley, Carlisle, one sister Maxine Huff, Sullivan, she was lovingly called GRANNY by most of her thirty-one grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren and twenty-five great, great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Bros. Larry Sims and Randy Easton officiating. Burial will be in the Carlisle Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Friday.
