John Edward Ladson, 71, of Shelburn passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his residence. The 1957 graduate of Hymera High School was born February 16, 1939 in Carlisle to Herb Ladson and Violet Gore Ladson. He was a retired reclamation supervisor for Peabody Coal Company and a member of the Hymera Independent Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Michael David Ladson and one sister Shirley Hull. He loved his family very much and enjoyed horses, camping and horse shows.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years Wanetta June Ladson of Shelburn whom he married May 23, 1957, one son Edward Lee Ladson, Shelburn, one daughter Beth (and Randy) Swalls, Shelburn, two sisters Barbara Enstrom, Hymera and Janice (and Joe) Smith, Sullivan, a daughter-in-law Cathy Stamper, ten grandchildren Brenda Ladson (Sara Smith), Dugger, John (Mary) Ladson, Wilfred, Jeremy (Sara) Swalls, Shelburn, Amy (Clay) Woodruff, Blackhawk, Zackariah (Laurie) Ladson, Terre Haute, Bethany Sankey, Wilfred, Clint (Trena) Shorter, Hymera, Crystal Ladson, Shelburn, Darrin Swalls, and Justine Bollen both of Sullivan. Ten great grandchildren Kimber and Brodie Ladson, Kirsten and Jeremiah Swalls, Michael Sankey, Skyler Trowbridge, Daylan and LaKayla Ladson, Bella Bollen and Emmy Woodruff and other relatives.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Revs. Norman Santus and David Swalls officiating. Burial will be in the K of P Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Randy Swalls, Ed Ladson, Johnny Ladson, Jeremy Swalls, Jack Ladson, Clint Shorter, Tim Brooks and Darrin Swalls. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Friday.
