Elmer Kenneth Patten, 83, of Farmersburg passed away at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. The U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War was born June 23, 1927 in Bird City, Kansas to Emmet and Mary Patten. He was a retired laborer. He was preceded in death by his wife Malda Crumrine Patten, his parents and a brother Louis Patten.
Survivors include two sons William (and Rita) Patten, Paxton and Howard (and Juanita) Patten, Carlisle, one daughter Jennie Patten, Farmersburg, one brother Bill Patten, Colorado, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in the Little Flock Cemetery at Shelburn. Visitation is 11:00 a.m until time of services Monday.
