Fred James Flath, 62, of Sullivan passed away at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 in Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. The 1965 graduate of Sullivan High School was born September 16, 1947 in Terre Haute to Adam "ED" Flath and Mary Margaret Badger Flath. He was a retired advanced emergency medical technician for Sullivan County and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a past master and member of the Sullivan Masonic Lodge, the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Sullivan City Volunteer Fire Department and taught classes in Fire Service and Emergency Medical Service. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of forty-years Louise Bay Flath of Sullivan whom he married May 16, 1970, one son Steve (and Crystal) Flath, Sullivan, one sister Peggy Southwood, Farmersburg, two grandchildren Baily Flath and Ben Flath, one nephew Joe Southwood. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Fleace officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Center Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 12:30 until time of services Saturday at the church. Those who wish may made donations to the Fred Flath Memorial Fund C/O the First Baptist Church or your local emergency responder.
