Dorothy Louise Stevens, 84, of Jasonville passed away at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The 1943 graduate of Dugger High School was born July 7, 1925 in Sullivan to Hallie Goodman and Rillia Black Goodman. She was a homemaker, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Sullivan County Historical Society and a past Worthy Matron of Chapter 289 OES in Hymera. She married Raymond Stevens May 13, 1945 and Raymond's career in the U.S. Army took them to many places over the years, including tours of duty in Heidelberg and Mainz, Germany, Fort Bliss and Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Carson, CO and Fort Richardson, Alaska. Upon Raymond's retirement they returned to Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Douglas Stevens, her parents, one brother Homer "Pat" Goodman, a grandson John Stevens and one half sister Betty Willis.
Survivors include one son Kenneth (and Nancy) Stevens, Ft. Worth, TX, one brother Fred Goodman, Owensville, one sister Reva Krebbs, Gainsville, FL, six grandchildren Mischelle Stevens (and Jim) Kennett, James (and Erika) Stevens, Marlena Stevens, Sara (and Josh) Stevens, Allison Stevens and Erica Stevens, eleven great grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Faust officiating. Burial will be in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday.
