Robert "Bob" Chambers, 87, of Sullivan and formerly of Carlisle passed away at 2:40 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor. The 1941 graduate of St. Bernice High School was born September 29, 1923 in Elnora to William Chambers and Lillie Walls Chambers. He was retired from the Milwaukee Railroad and a member of the Oakland Church of Christ. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in the 11th Airborne Division. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Lucile Barker Chambers, his parents, one sister Jessie Hancock, one step-son Jerry Boltz and one grandchild Darla Watts.
Survivors include one daughter Darlene (and Charles) Watts, Portage, two sisters Betty (and Bevie) Povlin, Crown Point and Mary Lou Chopson, Terre Haute, two grandchildren David Watts and Dennis Watts, one great grandchild David Watts, Jr. and other relatives.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Oakland Church of Christ in Carlisle with Bro. Allan Griggs officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Elnora, IN. Visitation is 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan.
