Neal Howard Sluder, 85, of Carlisle passed away at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Union Hospital, Terre Haute. The 1943 graduate of Coalmont High School was born March 19, 1925 in Coalmont to Roy Sluder and Hala Neal Sluder. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church and a past master and member of the Carlisle Masonic Lodge #3 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife Deloris Pearl Sluder, his parents and one brother Forest Sluder.
Survivors include one son Neal Joe (and Lisa) Sluder, Sullivan, one daughter Lee (and Mike) Shorter, Carlisle, a special friend Elaine Burcham, Linton, one brother Richard Sluder, Clarksville, two sisters Ruth Strahla, Indianapolis, and Kathryn Fisk, Xenia, OH, four grandchildren Josh, Jeremy Shorter,Jonathan Sluder and Laci Mayfield, six great grandchildren Chance, Delainey, Gracie, Caylee and Cacy Shorter and Lillian Mayfield.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Barbara Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery at Midland. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Monday with Masonic services at 7:00 P.M.
