Jerry Wayne Phegley, Sr., 76, of Carlisle passed away at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School was born August 26, 1933 in Carlisle to Russell Phegley and Plumie Prose Phegley. He was a farmer, a member of the Rose Chapel United Methodist Church and the Carlisle Odd fellows Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Marion, Bill and Nelson Phegley, one sister Alice Vaught and one great grandchild Mya Stearley.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years Peggy Irene Robbins Phegley of Carlisle whom he married December 20, 1951, one son Jerry Wayne Phegley, Jr., Carlisle, one daughter Lisa (and Norman) McCammon, Graysville, two sisters Ruth Poole, Vincennes and Carolyn McKinley, Sullivan, three grandchildren Scott McCammon, Marcy Bell and Melissa Stearley, three great grandchildren Lincoln McCammon, Lane McCammon and Calli Stearley, and other relatives.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan with Rev. Barbara Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carlisle. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Saturday.
