Sullivan IN Caroline Banther, 87, of Sullivan, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Breckenridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. The 1942 graduate of Merom High School was born in Riverton on August 5, 1924 to Harlan "Hutch" Taylor and Ruth Nelson Taylor. Caroline was a member of the First Christian Church of Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John W. Banther, 1995, a son Michael Jay Banther 1991, four brothers Earl Taylor, Luther Taylor, Bill Taylor and Wayne Taylor, two sisters, Jenny Hamblin and Mary Tietz. Survivors include her son William "Bill" Banther and his wife Lorraine of Sullivan, three sisters, Norma Leveritt of Indianapolis, Barbara Pinkston and her husband Dick of Indianapolis, and Harriett Keene of Sullivan, three grandchildren Kelly Cox and her husband Troy, Amy Vernelson and her husband Keith and Amanda Banther, eight great grandchildren Justin Cox, Jed Cox, Dena Cox, Ryan Vernelson, Samantha Vernelson, Kyle Vernelson, Karter Vernelson, and Jeremiah Vernelson Services will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle on Tuesday November 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dale Wise officiating. Services were entrusted to the Holmes Memorial Chapel.
