Lloyd Shelton, 78, formerly of Riley and Terre Haute passed away at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, Friday March 11, 2011. He was born at Medora, IN to Leonard and Anna Cawthon Shelton June 10, 1932.
He is survived by two sons Bart and Brian Shelton of Terre Haute, one daughter Pam Godsey of Colorado,three sisters Helen Rogers and Wanda (Red) Barnett of Terre Haute and Sue (Milton Roe) of Granite City, IL one brother Jerry (Sharon) Shelton of Edwardsville IL, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also a very special friend and companion Betty Wells of Shelburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn and oldest son Brad Shelton.
He was retired from Peabody Coal Company after serving 27 years as their machinist at Universal Mine. He was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America. He loved his job and he lived for his family and children. He enjoyed dirt track racing and fishing and will be greatly missed.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Rev. Norman Santus Officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 9-12:00 p.m. on Tuesday
