Jimmy V. "Jim" Shorter, 81, of Ruidoso, NM and formerly of Carlisle and New Lebanon passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011. The 1948 graduate of New Lebanon High School was born April 4, 1930 in New Lebanon to Wayne Shorter and Evelyn Schlichter Shorter. Jim, was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union, he was a sixty-year member and a fifty-year past master of the Carlisle Masonic Lodge and attended the New Lebanon Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Mason Shorter, one son Jay Shorter, one grandson Jeffrey James Shorter and his parents.

Survivors include two sons David (Jeanne) Shorter, Ruidoso and Daryl (Mary) Shorter, Carlisle, one brother Howard "Sam" Shorter, Sullivan, one sister Carolyn Stultz, New Lebanon, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan with Rev. Barbara Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, New Lebanon. Visitation will be 4-8:00 p.m. Monday with Masonic services at 7:00 p.m.
