Charles Leon Cunningham, 69, of Shelburn passed away at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Union Hospital after a short battle with cancer. The 1959 graduate of North Central High School was born June 26, 1941 in Shelburn to Harry Wesley Cunningham and Eva Mae (Barth) Cunningham. He was retired from GM guide lamp division in Anderson and a U.S. Army veteran. After retirement he returned to Shelburn where he enjoyed traveling, music and exercise at the Sullivan fitness Center. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by one son James Hall, his parents and two brothers Ronnie and Rick Cunningham.

Survivors include three daughters Linda Hall Boring, Lewiston, PA, Barbara Cunningham Grimes, Everett, WA and Susan Cunningham, El Cerrito, CA, two brothers Bob (Nita) Cunningham, Wilfred and Glen (Patty) Cunningham, Shelburn, one sister Carolyn (Mike) Jones, Terre Haute, two sisters in law Kimba Cunningham, Anderson and Marie Cunningham, Marion, seven grandchildren Ryan, Danielle, Brandon, Nicole, Jordan, Justin and Evan and other relatives. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan with Rev. Norman Santus officiating. Military rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars will follow services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
