Marilyn Janet Samm Bradbury 81, of Hymera Went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:05 p.m. on Sunday September 4, 2011 at Union Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. The 1948 graduate of Hymera was born at home in the country north of Coalmont near Friendly Grove Church on June 17, 1930 to Clarence Samm and Edith Smith Samm. Janet was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and will be sadly missed by her family and many others. She retired from CBS and was loved in Hymera as the School's crossing guard. Many will remember her as the noodle lady because for any event be it sad or happy she would make a big pan of homemade noodles. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was an avid IU Basketball fan, St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, and loved to fish. Per request her ashes will be sprinkled at a later date at a place she loved to fish. Janet was a Christian having been saved and baptized as a member of the Hymera Community Church in Hymera. She was also a member of the AARP and the Hymera Ruritan Club. Janet was a mother figure to several who considered her as mom and whom she loved as if they were her own. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Chase Sheckles, brother Hurbert Samm and Basil Samm, sister-in-laws, Betty Samm, Mildred Samm, Freda Samm and Eileen Samm brother-in-laws, Richard Monroney, Clint Yazel, and Jack Bickel and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her son Jim Bradbury and his wife Donna of Coalmont, three daughters Sherry Sheckles and her husband Roger of Griffin GA, Peggy Bradbury and fiancé Ted, and Nancy Braqdbury both of Hymera, five brothers Bill (Rose) Samm, Larry (Judy) Samm of Terre Haute, Weldon (Alberta) Samm of Jasonville, Jack (Jane) Sammof Lakeville IN, Carl (Ethel) Samm of Hymera sisters, Margaret Yazel of Michigan city IN, Wanita Monroney of Hoopeston IL, and Wanda Bickel of Coalmont, sister-in-law, Velma Samm of Hymera one aunt Irene Samm of Coalmont. Three granddaughters Nikki (fiancé Mike) Bradbury of Linton, Brandi (Kamran) Koie of Riley Jaime (Lee) Weir of Hymera, two grandsons Jason (Shannon) Bradbury of Coalmont and Dusty (companion Rachel) Sheckles of Indianapolis, Five great granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachael and Alesha Weir, of Hymera, Addison Koie, of Riley Aarika and Trista Steet of Coalmont one great grandson Grant Koie of Riley. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Swalls officiating. Visitation is 3:00 p.m. until services on Wednesday. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Hux Cancer Center, The Hymera Community Church or the Ruitan Club of Hymera, envelopes will be available at the funeral Home.
