Denzil M. Walters, 90, of Sullivan passed away at 12:30AM, January 9, 2012 in Hymera at the home of his daughter. He was born May 5, 1921, in Sullivan County, to Daniel and Stella Deckard Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cecilia Pearson Walters in 1978, sisters Susie Thomas and Edith Olson, and brothers Chester Walters and John Walters. Denzil is survived by three daughters Diana Bolton of Columbus, IN., Brenda Woods of Hymera, IN., and Rhonda Tucker of Sullivan, IN., a special friend Wilma Spencer of Sullivan, grandchildren Grant Bolton, Lindsay Tunny, Troy Woods, Neal Woods, Lisa Ridgway, and Lori Tucker. Also, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was a 1939 graduate of Union High School, and a veteran of World War II in Patton's Army. He was a member of the Shelburn American Legion Post #197 and the Disabled Veterans. Viewing will be Thursday from 11:00AM until time of service at 1:00PM at Holmes Memorial Chapel, in Sullivan, IN., with Pastor Norman Santus officiating. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan. Military rites will be provided by the Shelburn, Sullivan, Hymera American Legions and the Sullivan Co. VFW.
