John David Crooks of Sullivan passed away at his residence on September 24, 2012. He was born August 23, 1944 to Cecil William Crooks and Pansy Broderick Crooks. He was a 1962 graduate of Sullivan High, preceding him in death are his parents and his brother George Crooks along with sisters Betty Keene, Josephine Hart, and Rose Heck. Survivors include brothers James (Nancy) Crooks, Richard "Dick" (Verna) Crooks, Sisters Barbara Anderson, Jane Doyle and Mary (Steve) Dollahan, and several nieces and nephews. John was a retired employee of Amax Coal Company and a member of the "20 Year Club". His memberships included the First Christian Church, Elks #911, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge #90. John's family would like to thank Dr. Ernest Dupree and Jennifer Pitts for their kind and compassionate care given to him. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, October 1, 2012 in Center Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations should be given to the charity of your choice in John's name. His wonderful personality which showed love to all his family and friends will live on in our hearts forever.
