Benjamin Wade Howard, 89, of Fairbanks passed away August 24, 2012 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Sullivan Co. on June 29, 1923 to Roy and Myrtle (Irvin) Howard. After graduating from welding school in Nashville TN, Wade worked in Evansville building landing craft during WWII. Later he was employed as a Forman for B. F. Shaw Construction Company working at Indiana and Michigan's Breed Plant. He was also a farmer, a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters local 157, and a member of Farmersburg Church of Christ. On February 14, 1948 Wade married the love of his life, Mary (Cox) Howard, who survives him, also surviving are a daughter Joyce (Keith) Drake of Fairbanks, grandchildren Chad (Jen) Petty of Fairbanks, Jenna (Angelo) Smith of Indianapolis, great grandchild Noah Smith, sister Genevie Bailey, and a brother George (Brenda) Howard. Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters Iona Ervin, Mary Alice Howard, Marilyn Young; brothers Pete, Hershel, Harold and Donald. Services for Wade will be at the Holmes Memorial Chapel on Tuesday August 28, 2012 at 11 am with Brother Mitch Hoesman officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.
