Ralph E. Ham, 87, of Sullivan passed away on April 11, 2013, at Millers Merry Manor in Sullivan; IN. Ralph was born in Dugger on March 27, 1926 to Fred and Serena Hatfield Ham. Ralph attended Graysville High, a distinguished member of WWII, 4th Armored Division, 37th Tank Battalion, recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal; before his death he was the oldest surviving Prisoner of War from Sullivan Co. He was the owner of Ham's Marathon in Graysville and a School bus driver for the Southwest Sullivan County School Corporation for 40 years. Preceding him in death was his wife of 62 years Edith Pauline Huff Ham who died on August 27, 2006. Survivors include two sons John (Linda) Ham of Sullivan Randy (Susan) Ham of Sullivan a daughter Carolyn Jean Skubis (Stanley) of St. Charles IL, four grandchildren Jeffery Ham, Kent Ham, Rhett Skubis, Ryan Skubis, seven great grandchildren Abbi Ham, Mason Ham , Ava Ham, Nicholas Skubis, Anna Skubis, Hugh Skubis, and Theodore Skubis. Services for Ralph will be at 1 pm Tuesday April 16, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Robert Phillips officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery with Military Grave Rites given by the Hymera, Shelburn and Sullivan American Legions and Sullivan Co. VFW
