Richard Hanley McKain, 72, of Carlisle passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on December 17, 1940 in Sullivan County to Hezzie and Ruby Hanley McKain. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Sullivan High School, an Army Veteran, and retired in 2006 from Columbian Home Products after 42 years of service. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. Richard enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Betty Scott and Sharon Stewart.
Survivors include his wife Beverly Hartzburg, whom he married on January 22, 1965, two daughters Kellee Worland and her husband Greg of Vincennes, Julia Voegerl and her husband Blake of Indianapolis, three brothers Kenneth (Wilma) McKain of Shelburn, Manford (Sarah) McKain of Terre Haute, Allen (Loretta) McKain of Shelburn, and a sister Suellen (Billy) Ware of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by four granddaughters Morgan Harrison, Makenzie Harrison, Jordan Voegerl, and Bailee Voegerl, two step grandchildren Jon (Bri) Worland, Jason Worland and fiancé Coral Hogan, and a step great-grandson Luke Worland.
Services for Richard will be Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10 am at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Irvine officiating. Visitation will be Friday 4 to 7 pm. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
