Melvin Richard "Dick" Davis, 89, of Sullivan passed away at The Wyndmore Retirement Community in Terre Haute on August 4, 2013. He was born in Farnsworth IN, (Sullivan Co.) on May 22, 1924 to Harry and Effie Robertson Davis. He was a graduate of Sullivan High School, a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army inducted in March 8, 1943 and served in 2 wars WWII and Korean and was honorably discharged April 1, 1963. Dick was a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in PA & Maryland 1980-1989, he then moved from Greencastle, PA to Sullivan in 1989 to be near family. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, February 12, 2013 who he married on June 4, 1952, his sisters Edith Lewellyn, Doris Davis, Mildred Padget, Catherine Arnett, Lois Saucerman, brothers Harold, Claude, Elmer, Donald and Wendell Davis. Survivors include a sister Eva Meyer of Sullivan, brothers Loren (Verne) of Shelburn, Robert (Ruthanna) of Sullivan, sister-in-law Ellen Davis of Shelburn, brother-in-law Wayne Saucerman of Monrovia, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Dick will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Center Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Military Services will be given by the Shelburn, Hymera and Sullivan American Legion Post and Sullivan Co VFW. Services are entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel.

Graveside services for Dick will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Center Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Military Services will be given by the Shelburn, Hymera and Sullivan American Legion Post and Sullivan Co VFW. Services are entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel.
