Nancy Ann (Farrand) Darkis

Nancy Ann Farrand Darkis, 81, of Hutsonville IL. passed peacefully into eternal life on Thursday, June 20, 2024 . Nancy was welcomed into this life on February 1, 1943 in Terre Haute IN. the daughter of Dean Farrand and Mary Myers Holloway.

Nancy was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, after graduation she was employed at Columbia House for 30 plus years before retirement. She attended Farmersburg Community Church in previous years as her health allowed.

Nancy enjoyed working puzzles, crossword puzzles, going to the derby and was an avid wrestling fan. You approached with caution  while she was watching wrestling, she had a mean right hook and was helping the wrestler get his opponent under submission. She enjoyed dining out and especially enjoyed going to Arby’s, Dennys, Cracker Barrel and West Union Cafe.

While she enjoyed all these things, she cherished the time spent with her daughter, grandchildren and soon to be great great-granddaughter. Her family was her most precious achievement in life, one she proudly spoke of. Her loving heart and caring way will be deeply missed by those left to cherish her memory.

Those gone before her are her parents; brother, Larry Farrand in 1971; her ex-husband, Gary Darkis, whom she still loved.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son in-law, Laureen “Lori” and Keith Hood; grandsons, John Rhoads and Dwayne Hood; great-grandson, Dale Rhoads and soon to be great-great granddaughter, Zalina; brother, Jimmy Farrand; sister in-law and husband, Linda and Perry Dively.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Farmersburg Community Church  from 11 a.m. until services at 12 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Meyers officiating. Burial will follow where she will be laid to rest at Watson Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to defray expenses.
