Nellie M. Taylor, 96 years young, took her radiant smile to the feet of Jesus, on Tuesday, March 31,2026 with those she cherished at her side. She began her life journey on November 7, 1929 in Graysville, Indiana. Nellie was one of 9 children born to Samuel and Marie Akers Graves.
She was a graduate of Shelburn High School and last living member of her class. Nellie had a smile that lit up the room, her lifelong love, Clement “Tig” Taylor fell in love with her smile and decided to make her his wife in June of 1948. She was a member of Shelburn Ebenezer Community Church, her church family were a delight and a very large part of her life.
She was a vivacious reader, who enjoyed reading a book a day, after she worked her 3 crossword puzzles. She cherished life and living it to the fullest. She enjoyed walking 3 miles a day and going to the gym.
If you were blessed to gather at her table, you enjoyed a delicious meal, with one of her many yummy pies and “Grandma Nellie noodles” she was known for. She greatly delighted hosting a gathering for Shelburn Old Fashioned Days, with friends and family filling her yard for the festivities .
Her family was her priority, her love knew no boundaries and was shared over the years with all her family, along with friends whom she considered family. She never forgot a birthday, even those of her numerous nieces and nephews, celebrating with a card every year.
Those awaiting her Heavenly arrival were her parents; husband, Tig Taylor; son, John R. Taylor; siblings, David, Sam, Larry, Joy, Helen, Shirley and Nancy Graves.
Those here to cherish her memory are her daughter, Terry Dardeen and husband Marc; grandchildren, Leslie (Todd), Dawn (Fran), Johnny (Beth) and Eric; 12 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and her church family.
