Noble Herbert Deal

September 7, 1932 — July 28, 2015

Noble Herbert Deal, 82, of Sullivan, passed away on Tuesday July 28, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on September 7, 1932 in San Pedro CA to Noble H Deal Sr. and Thelma Ellis Deal. Noble was a 1951 graduate of Chandler High School and was a Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War. Upon his return from service he became an engineer / draftsman having worked for John Deer Corp. designing farm machinery in Moline IL. He Continued his career with McDonald Douglas working on the first space program Mercury; this afforded the opportunity to meet all of the astronauts including President John F Kennedy, then to Evansville to work for Whirlpool Corp and then finally to Sullivan to work for Peabody Coal Company. He had been a member of the Whosoever Will Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandchild Jacob Meier.

Survivors include his Wife of 56 years Mary "Melcine" Geis Deal whom he married on October 4, 1958; sons Mark (Kathy) Deal of Sullivan, Matt (Dawn) Deal of Graysville, daughters Dawn (Tim) Clark of Farmersburg, Tracey (Dennis) Miles of Sullivan, Michelle (Tim) Leigh of Sullivan, grandchildren Katie Rodgers, John Alexander, Chad Deal, Rebekah Dicus, Justin Deal, Jenna Meier, Jay Miles, Whitney Leigh, Grant Leigh, and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday August 1, 2015 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County Food bank or the Riley children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home; a private burial will take place at Center Ridge Cemetery at a later date. A special thank you to Dr. Purohit and Gentiva Hospice
