Norma Jean Barker, 93, a lifetime resident of Carlisle, peacefully passed into eternal rest on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at The Waters of Sullivan. She began her life journey on May 20,1933, the daughter of Price and Nantie Barker. A graduate of Carlisle High School, her life was built around farming. Growing up in small town America, she was deeply rooted in values, hard work ethic, strong focus, and lasting commitment to those she cherished.

Norma was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Although she never had children of her own, she had a special bond with cousins,Tonya and Sonie. She called Tonya "her girl" and cared for her like a daughter. She enjoyed embroidery, dot-to-dot puzzles, coloring, and doll collecting. With a doll collection that reached 650 at one point, she was truly a dedicated “plangonologist.” She was deeply loved and will forever be in the hearts of those she cherished.

Preceding her in death are her parents and Sonie's husband, Steve Torzewski.

Those surviving her are, Tonya (Blubaugh) Nichols (Mark) and their children, Kristen, Riley, and Jerico; Sonie (Barker) Torzweski and her children, Stanley (Julie) Torzewski and their children, Blane, Stella, and Lorna; Stefanie (Charlie) Seifert and their children, Hannah, Sarah, Ryan, and Libby; and cousin, Bob Blubaugh. Along with extended friends and family.

Services to celebrate Norma's life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Holmes Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jason Jones will officiate, with burial following at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
