Oliver Roger Hollifield

August 3, 1953 — May 31, 2024

Sullivan

Oliver Roger Dale Hollifield “Pap”, 70 of Sullivan, answered the soft sweet call of Jesus to come home, on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Union Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Without a doubt he heard Jesus say,  “Well done my good and faithful servant”.

Roger entered this brief life on August 3, 1953. Born to Maxwell and Lucille Ward Hollifield, in Wilfred IN. Roger met and married the love of his life and best friend, Marilyn Mason “Mammy” on October 2, 1970. After a 3 month courtship, he knew she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She preceded him November 12, 2022.  Marilyn was patiently awaiting his arrival to once again worship together, sitting side by side in the sanctuary of Heaven.  Together they loved and raised 3 beautiful children, and cherished 7 grandchildren.

Roger, known as “Pap” to all who knew and loved him, cherished nothing more than time spent with all of them. He was a longtime driver for Abrams and Hawkins, and went on to IMI before his retirement. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 841C , Past President of 40:31 Riders MotorCycle Ministry, an avid muscle car enthusiast with special fondness of the “Super Bee”. He was an active member of Abundant Grace House of Prayer.

Prior years he was Sunday School Superintendent at Harvest Temple Church of God , serving faithfully also as a Council Member. He was a key player on the church fast-pitch softball team that went onto win State Championships. Most of all Roger was a deeply devoted christian, family man and grandfather. His nieces and nephews all held a special place in his heart also. Roger loved all he met with the love of Jesus.  His family was first and foremost in his life. He was the Pappy that movies are made of. With the passing of his beloved wife “Mammy” his life was missing a huge part of himself . Now his heart is once again whole.

Those awaiting his arrival at Heavens gates were his parents; wife Marilyn “Mammy”; grandchild, Baby Reed; siblings, Jack and Dennis Hollifield, Lula Belle Walls, Sandy Tatum, Donna Walker and Sue Timms.

Those with a lifetime of memories to cherish are his children, Raji, wife, Dena Hollifield, Maranda, husband, Donnie Stalcup and Meleah, husband, Scott Reed; grandchildren, Bailee, Sydnee and Kai Hollifield, Jurnee Stalcup, Claire, Ryder and Sawyer Reed.

Also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Friends and family may pay respects on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Abundant Grace House of Prayer,  visitation beginning at 11 a.m. with service following at 1 p.m.

Pastor Raji Hollifield will officiate. Interment will follow at OakGrove Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his wife.
